What is a home computer? Part 1
A computer is made of different parts. These parts are the computer's hardware. In the following we will name and explain the different hardware parts of a computer.

• The CPU: or central processing unit. This is the processor of the computer. Simply put, a processor translates the input from the user (= the tasks a user want his computer to do, like typing a text, calculating …) into the computer's language so it can be executed.

• The motherboard: A computer is, like explained earlier, made of different parts. The motherboard is the central part that connects all hardware in a computer. Either the hardware is fixed on the motherboard, like the memory either it's connected with the motherboard. The big problem is, of course the compatibility of the different hardware parts of the computer. Upgrading your computer with for example a new processor may be a problem, causing you to buy a new motherboard. Which means you will probably have to buy new memory … So watch out!

More computer hardware will be explained in the next articles. See part 2 for …
